What are the responsibilities and job description for the UX Designer position at Whip Media?
Whip Media is seeking a UX Designer to help us delight the millions of users of our consumer products, TV Time and TheTVDB. These products serve TV and movie fans across the globe as well as provide key insights to entertainment studios and distributors. In this role, you will leverage your deep understanding of user-centered design to create experiences that are not only appealing, but also functional and intuitive. You will have significant impact across all of our consumer products, delivering critical UX updates to our web and mobile experiences. You will also join a growing team of designers and researchers who are shaping the vision of Whip Media’s UX discipline.
What will you do?
- Own and drive UX excellence for the TheTVDB while we work through implementation of a large-scale web redesign and future feature development
- Collaborate with design leadership, product, and engineering to assist with UX efforts for both TV Time web and TV Time mobile
- Align user needs with business priorities to develop features that result in significant growth of our user base, retention, engagement, and data collection
- Create low to high fidelity wireframes and prototypes for mobile and web
- Work with our user research team to design and conduct studies around your designs and identify areas for improvement
- Work with product, research, and analytics teams to prepare assets for A/B tests
- Define and maintain UX specifications, design systems, and style guides
- Hand finalized designs off to engineering and collaborate closely with that team to ensure designs are implemented as accurately as possible
- Iterate on designs based on research learnings
What do you need?
- 4 years of UX experience with a portfolio demonstrating a solid UX process, a strong attention to detail, and competency in both web and mobile design
- Experience working in a user-centered design process and understanding of UX principles
- Experience conducting basic user research (usability tests, user interviews, etc.)
- Proficiency in Sketch, Figma, Photoshop or Illustrator, and at least one prototyping tool
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), time management, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Willingness to take initiative and diligently follow through on projects
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment and responding to peer feedback
