Position: Instrument Designer
Job Description: Whiteley Infrastructure Group, LLC (WIG) is currently seeking an Instrument Designer to join our growing team located in our Baytown, TX office. The successful candidate will provide planning, design, and construction expertise for Instrument Designing. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of Instrument Designer experience, and minimum of 2 years experience managing projects.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Producing installation details, motor control center single lines, electric room layouts, motor control elementaries, connection diagrams, cable schedules, control panel layouts and grounding, lighting, power and instrumentation plans under minimal supervision.
- Generally responsible for performing all aspects for complete design of instrumentation assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This level is expected to assist in the design of larger and more complex electrical/instrumentation assignments. This work will be performed under general supervision.
- Develop and recommend improvements in design standards to lower cost and improve work quality and facilitate maintenance.
- Providing on-site assistance during startup, conduct field investigations as required and produce field reports with detailed sketches. Provide technical guidance to co-workers.
- Maintain accountability to cost/schedule by means of weekly updates and proactive improvements to delivery as needed to manage potential of change or project risks.
- Resolve project issues and problems.
- Ensure alignment between all disciplines that are involved with 3D CAD to prepare for model reviews and issue deliverables.
- Familiarity with utilizing department design and drafting standards, project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD / Bentley required. Knowledge of Microstation or SmartPlant
- Experienced in Navisworks. The ability to generate 3D models
- Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
- SPI InTools proficiency is required.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to perform lighting level and voltage drop calculations.
- Ability to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications. Route conduit and cable tray; Calculate tray and conduit fill.
- Ability to determine motor control center loading.
- Ability to create accurate electrical installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.
- Ability to determine load center unit substation loading.
- Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical deliverables.
