Whitestone Companies is a real estate investment firm based in Columbus, Ohio. The company specializes in adaptive reuse, value add, and new construction projects across the United States with a focus on the hospitality and multi-family segments. Our expertise in capital funding, property management, commercial design, and construction management allows us to drive a project from concept to completion. Currently the company’s investments touch twelve states with its primary assets being either Hilton or Marriott branded hotels.
Whitestone Companies is searching for a Director of Accounting to work directly with the Senior Leadership to ensure the financial health of the organization. This position will have direct oversight of the Accounting Team which is responsible for all aspects of the accounting process including payroll, balance sheets, cash projections, accounts payable, budgeting, asset protection, accounts receivable, tax filings, and capital expenditures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work with the senior leadership team to set vision and direct for the organization.
- Assess, advise, and record real estate transactions
- Assist in planning organizational tax strategies
- Conduct operational and global cash flow analysis and discussion
- Manage investor distributions
- Assist in the evaluation and execution of loans
- Manages assets banking relationships
- Responsible for leading, oversite, and accountability for the company’s accounting team.
- Lead the accounting team for property transitions and dispositions.
- Registration of all corporations
- Ensure the issuance of timely and complete financial statements, balance sheets and bank reconciliations as part of the month-end closing process.
- Handles tax reporting and submissions.
- Participate in postmortem and proactive conversations providing input at all levels creating a more in-depth budget and departmental budget.
- Development and implementation of internal expense control metrics.
- Assist in budget, forecasting, and review of profit and loss statement.
- Manages the companies accounting and payable systems
- Accurate reconciliation and recording of all property insurance bills / invoices.
- Establish property accounting audits
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, MBA preferred but not required
- Certified Public Accountant, a plus but not required.
- 7 - 10 years of financial/accounting experience, experience in the hospitality industry a plus but not required.
- 3 years of experience including employee management, coaching & mentoring
- Evidence of strong leadership and business acumen
- GAAP: 5 years of experience preferred but not required
- Project management oriented – Detail oriented and results driven with strong problem-solving skills

ABILITY TO COMMUTE/RELOCATE
- The position is based in Columbus, Ohio and it is preferred the candidate is based out of the corporate office. However, will consider a semi-remote work arrangement for the right candidate.
