Operations Manager/General Manager

About Us:

Whitetail Hill Chestnuts is a tree nursery that specializes in fruit and nut trees for use in conservation plantings and improving wildlife habitat. We sell our trees to landowners and land managers nationwide. Our primary market is the hunting community and most of our trees are used in plantings on hunting properties to improve wildlife habitat and numbers for recreational purposes.

Description:

Whitetail Hill Chestnuts is seeking qualified candidates for a Operations/General Management position managing operations at our nursery and shipping facility. This member of our team will provide leadership on site for our nursery and shipping team. They will be tasked with managing daily operations including the growing, handling, and shipping of tree seedlings and other products from our facility.

Duties Will Include:

Planning and directing daily operations, projects, and maintenance of the facility.

Overseeing and directing the growth, handling, and shipping of live plants.

Supervising employees to ensure the efficient operation of the facility. Including directing scheduling, evaluating, and training.

Procuring resources and supplies necessary for the operation of the facility.

This role requires a specialized set of skills and knowledge, much of which will be gained through on the job training to familiarize candidates with our products, our industry, and our industry practices.

In addition to this training, qualified candidates will need to possess prior experience and knowledge to perform their role successfully.

Experience:

To successfully perform this role, a candidate must have experience in business management (at least 3 years) as well as one or more of the following:

- A degree in an applicable field (Horticulture, Agriculture, Agricultural Business, Business Management, etc.) Other fields of study will be considered as well, provided they are applicable to this role

- Experience working in an agricultural setting especially in greenhouses/horticulture

Additionally, a qualified candidate will possess the following qualities:

- Strong computer skills

- The ability to work well with little direct management

- Ability to problem solve

- Ability to communicate well with coworkers, customers, and superiors

- Strong self motivation

An ideal candidate will be familiar with and have experience in the multiple sectors of our industry which merges aspects of business, agriculture, and the outdoor industry. They will be a highly motivated individual who can work well with little direct supervision. Ideal candidates will have a good work ethic and the ability to lead others. They will also be ready to learn the necessary skills and information needed to perform their role.

Compensation:

Starting compensation is based on experience and skills and ranges from $45-70K per year

Includes profit sharing based compensation which allows candidates opportunities for considerable increases in compensation based on performance.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
