What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications & Marketing Manager position at Whittier Street Health Center?

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Develops and executes comprehensive marketing strategy to include diverse and up-to-date photo and video portfolio; manages photo releases and content inventory
· Collaborates with external public relations team to ensure cohesive external messaging and consistency in agency voice; writes and edits all internal and external communications
· Crafts bullets/talking points for public engagements, composes scripts for small projects, and provides content and oversight for scriptwriters on larger projects
· Maintains updated Press Kit, Newsletter and coordinate the Annual Report
· Compiles, manages, and enforces brand and style guidelines
· Develops and manages communications calendar
· Strategizes, schedules, and designs all electronic communications, including seasonal newsletters and templates for event promotions, appeals, and other donor e-communications
· Manages Constant Contact mailing lists
· Curates a robust social media calendar and maintains an active agency presence across the following platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn
· Manages approved website content and makes regular updates
· Sources original and guest content for blogs, social media, and newsletters; generates an archive of evergreen content
· Tracks and reports on all digital efforts, including website traffic and donations, social media engagement, and email campaigns
· Liaises with graphic designers and to produce and keep current all development collateral; works with Development & Event Manager to create branded special event materials
· Assists the development team as needed with written appeals and grant applications
· Responsible for implementing public relations, marketing, and product development strategies developed by consultants
· Creates and manages independent social media channels
· Maintains branded website
· Develops and keeps current all collateral and branded materials; including promotional brochures
· Performs special projects in collaboration with development team, and other team members
· Staff occasional events; which may take place on evenings or weekends
· Perform additional tasks as needed to support organization mission
Special Events:
· Works with the development team to support the production of special events including but are not limited to: volunteer recruitment, stewardship and coordination; development of printed materials; negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships; scheduling etc.
· Works closely with other staff on planning, logistics, and support efforts to use events in identifying, cultivating and involving donors.
· Works with Development Associate to produce invitation, registration and sponsor lists for events and event solicitations.
· Participates in defining and carrying out development objectives and priorities for entire organization
Experience/Abilities/Competencies:
- Ability to identify and research potential sources of foundation and grant support from local and national funding sources.
- A proven record of accomplishment of significantly increasing grant results
- Superior writing, speaking, and listening skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and to initiate new ones.
- Working knowledge of Boston corporate philanthropic community and familiarity with Boston’s communities of color strongly desired.
- Commitment to Whittier Street Health Center’s mission.
- Energetic, enthusiastic and results oriented.
- Ability to work effectively with donors and prospects, board members, volunteers, vendors, and other staff.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with donor management software including Raiser’s Edge by Blackbaud.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour
