What are the responsibilities and job description for the Developer position at Whole Foods Market?

Under general supervision, analyzes, designs, develops, maintains and supports short- and long-term information technology business support solutions through development of new or modification and adaption of existing application software using standard and approved tools and methodologies.
  • Meets or exceeds service level obligations to customers and business partners.
  • Has the technical understanding and capability to respond quickly and effectively to reporting and analytics business needs.
  • Creates and maintains agent, team, and domain level metrics
  • Identifies trends within metrics reports and communicates those trends effectively to stakeholders.
  • Upholds key tenants and data quality standards in the organization.
  • Make recommendations for new metrics and data centric processes that continually improve data quality and goals.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to understand and build impactful analytical solutions.
  • Strives to improve existing report methodology with scripts or logic/process efficiency improvements
  • Able to adapt to current and emerging analytics and data trends to maintain a pulse on current business impact and needs.

Skills:

  • Advanced problem-solving and solutioning skills
  • Ability to write and understand advanced queries using SPL or SQL or related language
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with statistical models and concepts
  • Adept at using data visualization software. Tableau preferred.
  • Proficiency in logic building concepts
  • Advanced knowledge in ServiceNow Reporting
  • Technical proficiency with database related design, modeling, mining, and segmentation
  • Engages with users, vendors, and business partners/stakeholders to influence technology and process choices and project/activity planning through data.
  • Ability to develop actionable KPIs that assesses actual outcomes against expected results.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of industry, market, and company dynamics and business drivers.
  • Demonstrates a technical understanding of how effective information and data management underpins significant aspects of WFM’s capability and business performance.
  • Able to draw connections between industry and market trends and understand the WFM business implications.
  • Able to translate complex economic models and analysis into simple and actionable components through statistics and communicate those results effectively at multiple levels.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree in any technical field or 4-6 year’s relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2-3 years’ experience with any scripting language (Powershell, R, or Python preferred)
  • 3-4 years’ experience with Atlassian tools (Confluence preferred)
  • 3-4 years’ experience with Splunk or SQL
  • 4 years’ experience with Tableau
  • 5 years’ experience with Excel
