What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receiver, Distribution Center position at Whole Foods Market?
The Receiver is responsible for performing all functions of inbound receiving by using computerized warehouse management system (EXE) to receive refrigerated and dry grocery product. Matching bills of lading to purchase orders and editing quantities is the primary function. The Receiver will inspect arriving product to make sure it meets Whole Foods Market quality standards and record specific arrival information such as temperature. Restacking product as necessary so pallets will fit properly in warehouse rack as well as operation of powered industrial trucks
General duties
- Ensure that inbound product is inspected and meets WFM quality standards
- Receive Cross Dock items into inventory
- Match bills of lading to Cross Dock paperwork/purchase orders and edit quantities in EXE
- Use OrderLink and EXE to BOM and print selection labels. Verify procedures were successful.
- Reconcile all invoices and create daily load sheet for the shipping team
- Assist Customer Service with resolving any receiving issues with vendors and stores
- Identify ways to reduce shrink and shipping errors
- Track and document Flow and cross-dock movement in the NDC
- Work in both refrigerated (as low as 34 degrees) and ambient parts of the warehouse
- May need to work in the freezer (as low as -10 degrees)
- Operate powered pallet jacks and forklifts in accordance with OSHA regulations and WFM policy
- Operate dock plates, dock locks, and warehouse loading bay doors
- Use computerized warehouse management system via radio frequency terminals
- Perform all duties in accordance with Good Organic Standards and Whole Foods Market policy
- Regularly lift cases weighing up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift cases in excess of 70 lbs.
- Assist in cleaning
- Frequently vary tasks based on the direction of the Assistant Team Leaders and/or Team Leaders
- Use computerized warehouse management system (EXE) to receive refrigerated and dry grocery product
- Match bills of lading to purchase orders and edit quantities in receiving system
- Inspect arriving product to make sure it meets Whole Foods Market quality standards
- Record specific arrival information such as temperature
- Restack product as necessary so pallet will fit properly in warehouse rack
- Use voice and sticker-based orders to pull and palletize store orders
- Work in an accurate and efficient way
- Build pallets in a way that will not damage product
- Load trucks and record what is being loaded in our warehouse management system
- Use RF-based terminals to locate, drop and put away product properly so that it is properly rotated
- Identify any pallets that need to be restacked, lower them and restack them
- Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader, Supervisor or Store Leadership.

- Previous warehouse experience preferred
- Must be 18 years of age
