Parent Child Advocate - Shelter – Full Time
Interested in working directly with victims of sexual and domestic violence and sexual exploitation?
The Wichita Family Crisis Center currently has an opening for a full-time Parent Child Advocate. Hours for the position include Monday – Friday from 8am-5pm. The primary responsibilities of the Parent Child Advocate are: (1) to receive prospective clients who have been victimized and seek assistance through the Wichita Family Crisis Center, as well as determine safety and suitability for service; (2) to provide advocacy, parenting support, and safety planning services for clients and their children who enter shelter; and (3) work with children to express their experiences while helping them with positive behavior strategies such as conflict resolution, problem solving and anger management. The Parent Child Advocate position is based in the shelter and is responsible for working with shelter residents and their children.
A qualified candidate should have knowledge of sexual and domestic violence and sexual exploitation, excellent communication skills, be prepared for answering crisis calls, and have skills for working with survivors. Undergraduate degree required, with a degree in social work, criminal justice, women's studies or communications preferred. Life experience will also be considered. Bilingual English and Spanish a plus. Position will report to the Shelter Manager. The Wichita Family Crisis Center is an equal opportunity employer. Position open until filled.
