What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS Analyst position at Wicomico County?
About this position:
Under the general supervision of the GIS Services Manager, the GIS professional will support planning and program administration activities for Wicomico County. The position will be responsible for the following planning related tasks and projects:
- Assist in the data development and maintenance of an enterprise GIS platform for the Planning and Emergency Services Departments.
- Primary point-of-contact for Emergency Management personnel and public safety agencies.
- Research, compile, create data and related mapping for access by County departments.
- Create and implement interactive web maps and data collection tools for a variety of County departments.
- Develop custom GIS tools/scripts using SQL, Python, Survey123, Collector.
- Conduct and present advanced GIS analyses of spatial data for users, as well as elected and appointed officials within County government.
- Coordinate internal team members and interns in the completion of spatial data development and collection projects.
- Obtain and manage grants, consultant contracts, and project / program budgets; and
- Performs related work as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Planning or a closely related field with significant GIS course work. GIS experience of 3-5 years and possess knowledge in areas of work concentration. Demonstrated proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS Platform (ArcGIS XX, ArcPro, ArcGIS online, Portal and Model Builder). Experience in SQL, Python, JavaScript, HTML.
