What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS Technician position at Wicomico County?
Under general supervision this position will assist the GIS Services Unit with developing and maintaining GIS data and perform GIS analysis in support of planning and local government activities. This will include performing mapping and analysis, developing and maintaining planimetric and 911 addressing data, and serving as a liaison between the Planning Department and other County agencies, boards, and elected officials.
- Utilize GIS software to assign and maintain 911 addresses,
- Monitors and evaluates planning activities and projects to assess how GIS can be used to assist with the decision -making process,
- Update parcel boundaries using Coordinate Geometry (COGO),
- Assist with maintaining geospatial databases, metadata, and web-based mapping applications,
- Produce data, maps, and reports for various departments and general public,
- Performs analysis on raster and mosaic datasets in support of the Department’s drone program,
- Conduct deed research, and
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, planning or a closely related field with an emphasis on GIS. Demonstrated proficiency in ESRI 10.X software, ArcPro, and Microsoft Office suite. Experience with ESRI model builder, ArcGIS online map configuration and development, Geocortex, SQL, Python, HTML, ArcGIS Portal, a plus.

Pay: $34,665.00 - $42,000.00 per year
