Wieland is hiring a Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for Wieland Recycling purchases and processes a wide range of metals. The Maintenance Manager supports Wieland Recycling in the execution of recycling strategies, specifically with our maintenance and operations teams to implement processes with practical solutions. The Maintenance Manager can expect to work on-site with employees at all levels to support recycling of a broad range of materials including metals, alloys, and electronic scrap. This role is located in Granite City, IL and will be fully on-site.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Manager Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Manager ensures the delivery of maintenance, reliability, and repeatability. They provide leadership and direction in assessing, determining, and executing facility capital expenditures and maintenance enhancement needs with a significant focus on improving productivity and minimizing costs & waste while assuring highest levels of safety, quality, and performance. Direct or lead problem analysis for equipment related performance or quality concerns. Lead innovative projects to develop processes of recycling various metals or e-scrap. Proficiency with legacy and cutting-edge technologies to ensure that the Company is leveraging the most effective platforms for increased productivity, safety, and profitability. The maintenance manager works with the maintenance supervisor & team and liaison with engineering and operations teams.
- Manages, leads, and motivates a team to deliver results by communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines, engaging and developing team members through effective performance management, coaching and training
- Set targets for equipment performance, monitor progress, and implement change management when necessary to achieve department and business unit targets.
- Develops and continuously improves a detailed department-specific business plan ensuring all facility assets including production equipment, support equipment, and building, and grounds are properly maintained. This is done through strategic and effective scheduling of assigned, monitored, and measured corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities.
- Responsible for technical activities and projects that includes collaborating with engineering team on equipment design, modification, purchase, installation, and commissioning.
- Prepare and manage maintenance budgets within established guidelines.
- Responsible for maintaining the facilities buildings and grounds in a cost-effective manner that creates a positive image to customers and the community. Coordinate, oversee, and review the work of on-
- site contractors to ensure projects are installed in accordance with standards and specifications; local, state, and federal codes; and OSHA regulations.
- Provide on and off-hour emergency support including equipment repair, damage control, and assignment of support personnel as needed.
- Collaborate with procurement team on negotiating pricing, quality and delivery of multiple purchased categories.
- Collaborates with the leadership team to ensure business plan goals and other KPIs are achieving target and goals and other KPIs are achieving target and develops and implements action plans to correct below target performance measures by actively participating in meetings, management reviews, and audits.
- Act as liaison for Engineering in an advisory role to problem solve issues as they arise. Creative thinking and outside the box approaches are encouraged to solve problems or develop solutions to process recycled materials.
Maintenance Manager Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment
- 3 years of experience in progressively responsible management roles
- Previous technical supervisory experience demonstrating effective management.
- Experience with maintenance work order and inventory systems
- Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance programs
- Experience in procurement and negotiations.
- Experience in recycling industry a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to coordinate projects between departments and planning a flow of tasks beginning to end.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to communicate at any levels, including explanation of technical information to non-technical employees. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Flexible, assertive, stress-tolerant, and optimistic mindset, with a willingness to adapt to evolving project requirements and deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
