The MA1 will be required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and be able to lift up to 50 pounds. The MA1 must be willing and able to become fork truck certified by our in-house trainer. Duties and Responsibilities for Warehouse Associate/ MA I:
- Actively participates in pre-shift meetings
- Responsible for physical condition of warehouse through inspecting equipment, cleaning up work areas and checking for safety concerns
- Able to complete packing from Red Bud, CTL Lines, Case Break Work Center, Skid Building Center, Channel Coil, Slitters and Packing Lines
- Gather and stage packing supplies; accurately pack materials according to customer needs, and manage workplace organization of the packaging area
- Must be able to build skids based on required sizes
- Operates fork truck and other warehouse equipment in a safe and reliable manner
- Ability to use hand scanner and moved finished goods to appropriate location
- Able to drive a tow motor to load / unload trucks, and move material across the plant
- Complies with OSHA and company safety requirements, and advises management on concerns or needed actions
- Reviews all paperwork for accuracy and/or additional work requirements
- Assists with periodic inventory
- Willingness to work overtime on occasion
Physical Requirements:
This position is one where the incumbent is required to walk around in the warehouse for extended periods of time on a regular basis, and be able to stand, squat and bend to complete their work.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications for Warehouse Associate/ MA I:
Working knowledge of warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving- Time management skills and the ability to prioritize workload
- Attention to detail and accuracy of information
- Problem-solver, with a customer service attitude and orientation
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- High level of integrity and confidentiality
Education & Experience:
Must have high school diploma or GED- Comfortable taking orders from supervisors and management
- One year of warehouse experience, preferably in metals industry
- Ability to operate within a fast-paced, union environment
- Knowledge of equipment, safety and process management
- Comfortable using a fork truck and other warehouse equipment
- Willingness to learn additional skills
