Senior Planner
Position Purpose:

Accountabilities:
- Partners on business development efforts for planning in current or new markets
- Manages complex planning studies, development applications and reviews proposals
- Reviews and processes comprehensive plan amendments, re-zonings, annexations, site plans and plats
- Develops project budgets, administers bidding process, verifies contract expenditures and compliance
- Presents reports and other findings to staff, Planning & Zoning boards, and serves as a liaison to such professionals
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Demonstrated experience to develop new clients for a firm
- Possess a positive, team-based mentality and ability to mentor staff
- Ability to balance a broad scope of activities, clients and professionals
- Advanced knowledge of the principals, practices and techniques of planning
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in planning or a related field
- 10-15 years of experience with municipal experience and zoning ordinances
Preferred Education/Experience:
- 5 years of experience in consulting
- Master’s Degree
- Membership in American Planning Association
- AICP Certification
- CNU- A Accreditation, body of work represents the tenants expressed by the Congress of New Urbanism (CNU). A sophisticated understanding of pedestrian-based design and planning.
- Previous experience incorporating high-quality graphic presentations into planning processes and documents.
- Prior experience with or knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Travel:
- Travel between offices for collaboration with team members and for project meetings and job sites as needed
