General Laborer
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: General Manager
Status: Non-Exempt
Description: Performs varied tasks supporting any of the other job descriptions.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Preps cores for finalization and shipment after items have been removed from vehicles.*
Sort materials, such as metals, glass, wires, paper or plastics, into appropriate containers for recycling.*
Clean recycling yard by sweeping, raking, picking up broken glass and loose paper debris, or moving barrels and bins.*
Sort metals to separate high-grade metals, such as copper, brass, and aluminum, for recycling.*
Break down wheels and tires.*
Test, charge and recycle dismantled vehicle batteries.*
Follows all safety policies and procedures.*
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience or knowledge in the automotive industry.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver’s license. Forklift certification. Training and certification available.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. For heavier merchandise lifting devices and/or assistance is required.
