The Field Manager (Construction Superintendent) position at Wilhelm Commercial Builders, Inc, dba Wilhelm Builders (WB), is an integral part of the Field Operations team for construction projects located throughout Maryland, Washington D.C., and the Northern Virginia area. This position is responsible for the management of all on-site construction activities and supervision of all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. The Field Manager plays a vital role in ensuring WB policies and procedures are implemented effectively by providing a safe workplace for all onsite personnel, delivering exceptional client experience, and producing top notch quality workmanship.
Roles and Responsibilities
Onsite Coordination and Execution
- Provide direct supervision and coordination of all field personnel and trade partners to effectively implement project plan.
- Work alongside internal WB personnel i.e. Construction Managers and Project Administrators to manage the project budget and schedule to exceed client expectations.
- Gather, review and submit project documentation including, but not limited to: Requests for Information (RFI), submittals, project reports, Change Order tracking, As-Built drawings, and construction progress photos.
- Implement WB Policies and Procedures by conducting weekly safety toolbox talks, quality control meetings, evaluation of in place construction, daily safety inspections, preparing daily reports and upholding the employee accountability program.
- Collaborate with the project team to identify key project details and problem solve field issues in a timely manner.
- Proactively order materials, schedule inspections and trade partner scopes of work as necessary throughout the project life cycle.
- Manage all punch list items and ensure outstanding project closeout items are completed on schedule.
- Show deep understanding of the project scope of work, construction plans and specifications, through comprehensively communicating with internal staff, clients, and trade partners about project specific tasks in a timely manner.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum 5 years of verifiable experience as a Foreman Field Manager, Superintendent or similar supervisory role, and/or combined college education with supplementary experience.
- Knowledge of General Construction trades including site work, demolition, concrete, masonry, paving, metals, millwork, carpentry, doors and hardware, STC rated doors, glass and glazing, framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, painting, flooring, wallcovering, RF foil, RF window film, HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, fire alarm, and electrical.
- OSHA 30-Hour certification, CPR and/or First Aid (or willingness to obtain such certifications.)
- Ability to read and interpret drawings/specifications and create/follow construction schedules.
- Must have your own means of transportation.
Communication and Leadership Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents, such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to express opinions and ideas, both verbally and in writing, in a clear, concise and respectful manner.
- Ability to listen, keep emotions under control, build rapport with field staff and exhibit strong leadership skills.
Technological Skills
- Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, Word and Project.
- Shows competence and/or the ability to learn Procore Project Management software.
