Job Posting for Creative Writing Instructor, Upward Bound at Wilkes University
Wilkes University invites applicants for an open Creative Writing high school teaching enrichment position in the Upward Bound Program for the summer session. Upward Bound is a federally funded Trio Program, which provides support to participants in their preparation for college and ultimately, in their higher education pursuits.
The successful candidate is responsible for implementing the enrichment component of the Program by introducing or advancing skills in creative writing, walks through the different mediums of creative writing (Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, Poetry, Screenwriting, and Play-Writing), assists in creating performative writing pieces, and ways of finding voice to a small group of high school level students. A Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Education, and/or a related field is required.
Please note that this is only a part-time/temporary position with a competitive hourly wage. Dates run from June 17th through July 25th and classes are held twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays (1:15P.M. - 2:30P.M.).
