- Ability to read and understand menus and recipes.
- Be able to follow verbal and written directions. Have good communication skills and ability to work with students, faculty and parents of the District.
- Baking and cooking skills preferred but not required.
- Must be able to lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand on your feet for an extended time during the work day.
- Attend monthly meetings.
- Be available for emergency calls or plan for someone to be available to handle problems that might arise when manager is not on the job.
- In cooperation with the Director of Food Services resolve problems and incidents that might occur with food service employees.
- Check and sign-off on all time cards, schedule workers to cover hours Monday through Friday.
- Responsible for cleanliness of entire kitchen facility. Schedule daily, weekly and monthly cleaning of floors, ovens, freezers, and refrigerators.
- Conduct inventories of freezers and storeroom.
- Check in weekly food deliveries and ensure proper storage of food item.
- Ensure repair of equipment by appropriate work orders.
- Help PTO and staff with request for use of kitchen throughout the year.
- Maintenance of food service operation full compliance with public and state health codes.
- Oversee cash register, daily deposits and petty cash.
- Post items on inventory sheet and update as needed.
- Prepare end of the month statements and provide paperwork to be distributed accurately.
- Prepare commodity orders.
- Ability to determine production schedule and necessary supplies for planned menu.
- Enter and record student breakfast and lunch account information, make deposit into individual accounts.
- Compile and maintain accurate balance and reports for breakfast and lunch counts.
- Accurately count money and make bank deposits.
- Monitor student charges and send notice to parent and school office.
- Recognize the portion size and serving requirements for Type A Lunches.
- Accurately charge for additional or extra food items.
- Complete assigned kitchen responsibilities as directed by Director of Food Services
