Early Childhood Education Assistant Teacher - Part-time
Who We Are
Williamsburg Campus Child Care (WCCC) is an independent 501(c)(3) located on the campus of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Since 1992 it has operated out of the Sarah Ives Gore Child Care Center. WCCC actively participates in the Virginia Quality Program, is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, and participates in US Department of Agriculture’s Child and Adult Care Food Program. A strong relationship with William & Mary continuously enriches the program with intellectual, creative, and physical resources.
Assignment
WCCC is seeking engaging, dynamic, experienced individuals to serve as part-time, year-round Early Childhood Teachers in our early childhood education program. Assistant Teachers must be comfortable working with all ages (infant - PreK).
All teachers and administrative staff at our center are employed by Williamsburg Campus Child Care (WCCC), an independent 501(c)(3) organization, not the College of William & Mary. Employees of WCCC are not eligible for benefits offered by the College of William and Mary.
Working Conditions
A 20-25 hour/week Monday - Friday schedule that is flexible with an individual's availability working in classrooms with small class ratios, paid leave and holidays, along with professional development opportunities are a few of the benefits of working at WCCC. Classrooms are also supported by William & Mary students and volunteers making it an engaging place to work. Compensation is based on education and experience.
Responsibilities
Successful applicants must be willing to participate in all facets of early childhood education as they relate to the care and supervision of young learners. This includes but is not limited to participating in individual, small group, and large group activities with children, helping to maintain a clean and healthy environment, and promoting children’s growth by engaging in activities such as reading books, assisting with art projects, leading an energetic dance party and guiding a nature walk through Colonial Williamsburg.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess at minimum a high school diploma. A CDA or Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education or a related field; or current enrollment in required curriculum is preferred.
All finalists must successfully pass background checks prior to employment, should hold current infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (or must be obtained within 90 days of hire), and must submit documentation of a negative tuberculosis screening.
