What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager on Duty position at Wilson Artisan Wineries?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager on Duty is a key role insure that the Lodging department has an active staff member that can be reached at night to assist guests in emergency situations or to answer lodging questions. This position will be available over-night to answer phone calls and make potential site visits to guest houses or our Inns to take care of issues that may arise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer all phone calls, texts and voicemails while on duty and answer any questions that guests calling the MOD phone have regarding lodging
- Be knowledgeable about each lodging property, regarding basic information such as the address, basic layout of the property, basic supplies and amenities that are at each property.
- Access information such as door codes, contact information of managers or staff members who may be available to do a site visit
- Assess if a site visit is needed and contact the appropriate person to do the site visit – list will be provided with appropriate contacts
- Write up incident reports if there are incidents with guests at lodging properties and send to the Lodging Manager ASAP.
- Be available to do site visits at properties if needed to help guests with urgent issues if no manager can be reached
- Call maintenance staff/technicians out to properties if there is a maintenance emergency
- Give guests information for each lodging property as requested – help trouble shoot and assess guest problems or concerns for all lodging properties
- Insure Wilson Artisan hospitality standards are met and guests are treated politely
- Keeps immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to solve problems and defuse tense situations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must have integrity and practice honesty at all times
- Demonstrate a calm and professional manner at all times
- Must be available to work on weekends and holidays
- Must have a reliable, insured method of transportation
- Must possess a valid California class C driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Related experience or a combination of experience, education and training is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Proficient in the English language.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as emails, safety rules, recipes, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
- Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups of customers, vendors and employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to utilize good judgement and decision making skills to analyze information, make recommendations as needed and resolve issues as able.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Intermediate or advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
- Inn Reservation Key experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually low. The employee may be exposed to noise from guests or working environment. The Employee may perform some duties outdoors, such as visiting offsite lodging properties and assessing maintenance concerns.
