What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer position at Wilson Combat?
Major Duties and responsibilities:
- Design innovative projectiles to meet critical performance requirements.
- Facilitate and manage bullet designs from concept to production.
- Create, maintain, and integrate intellectual property into file management software (Solidworks PDM preferred).
- Interpret and respond to quality reports to ensure product performance standards are maintained.
- Communicate with Marketing, Customer Service, and Business Development Departments to continually improve and monitor customer feedback.
- Perform tasks as assigned.
The Mechanical Engineer Must Have:
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills that drive design ingenuity to meet critical-to- function requirements.
- Basic firearm, lab, and machine shop safety experience.
- Ability to work with teams and collaborate.
- Fundamentals of Ballistics; including in-flight and terminal projectile performance.
- Design, prototype, build and test projectiles by evaluating ballistic characteristics using applicable lab equipment.
- Microsoft Office and 3D CAD modeling experience (Solidworks preferred)
- CAM and basic knowledge of manufacturing beneficial
- Familiarity with SAAMI standards
- ASME Y14.5 - GD&T standards and basic drafting experience.
