SUMMARY An Electromechanical engineer brings the principles of electrical and mechanical engineering to Wilson Tool products. Many current products have the potential to be improved upon and new products invented by adapting both electrical and mechanical functions. An Electromechanical Engineer at Wilson Tool will:
Conceive, design, test, and participate in cross-functional electro-mechanical design reviews with other engineering, manufacturing, and marketing personnel facilitating transfer to production new electro-mechanical and electronic products.
Promote multi-functional, collaborative input in order to generate designs that optimize functionality, aesthetics, manufacturability, and cost.
Provide support to production, vendors, our sales force, and customers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The responsibility of an Electromechanical engineer involves designing, developing, and maintaining a broad range of electrical/electronic and mechanical systems or components by focusing on safety, economy, reliability, sustainability, and quality.
Engineer designs of logic and digital circuit, motor controls, instrumentation, and data for implementation into new or existing automated, servo mechanical, or other electromechanical systems and products.
Team up with engineers to execute electromechanical designs in industrial or other settings.
Transform electromechanical drawings into design specifications, applying principles of engineering, thermal and fluid sciences, mathematics, and statistics.
Install and program computer hardware and machine software in microprocessor-based systems.
Fabricate mechanical, electrical, and electronic works and assemblies.
Make examples and models of products.
Identify the needs of the customer
Research correct solutions and estimate timescale and costs.
To monitor the product and improvise it for future features.
Provide production support with troubleshooting and design of fixtures.
Assist customer support of electromechanical products and systems
Identify and qualify suppliers including visits to and auditing of suppliers as needed.
Review statement of work documents when contracting with outside resources and suggest alternatives as needed.
Work with sales staff to perform field demonstrations and answer technical questions.
Writing reports for senior colleagues outlining new concepts, testing outcomes, and ongoing development.
Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of projects.
Leading/working as part of project teams in various department as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in one of the following:
Electromechanical engineering
Electrical engineering
Mechanical engineering with an emphasis on electrical systems
Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in an advanced high mix manufacturing environment.
Extensive SolidWorks experience (3-5 years minimum).
Eagle or other PCB software design experience.
Experience with programming languages, such as C, C or C#.
Experience leading motion control projects using PLC controllers.
Experience with microcontrollers such as Arduino, Pi, etc.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated, with a positive and professional approach.
Enjoy hands-on mechanical work and problem-solving.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient with basic hand tools and measuring implements.
Basic understanding of GD&T.
Commitment to innovation and problem-solving, “roll up the sleeves” approach.
Good communication skills.
Excellent documentation skills.
Project management experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
3 - 5 years of experience in an advanced high mix manufacturing environment as an electrical or electromechanical or manufacturing engineer with a primary focus on electronics in a machining or metal fabrication business.
