SUMMARY – Responsible for the production planning including working with a team to coordinate all aspects of the master production schedule for all divisions. Establishes production sequence to meet shipping deadlines. Is responsible for the MRP planning data within the SAP environment. Conducts daily product reviews to assess semi-finish and finish inventory levels, re-order amounts, and plan for future product needs. Also involved with, updating spreadsheets, material master monitoring, bill of materials, and creating and monitoring production orders. Communicates with multiple departments, supervision, and other personnel on a daily basis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with Engineering, Shop Leaders, & Purchasing to coordinate all aspect of the master production schedule and material master
- Plans, monitors, and schedules production orders using the SAP system & MRP data
- Prints production orders, packets them, and delivers them to the shop
- Tracks down live orders in the shop and expedites when needed
- Assists Sales Desk with availability checks and material substitutions as needed
- Forecasts Production’s output
- Occasionally gives input on raw material purchases and new product launches to ensure material availability
- Occasionally creates outside vendor purchase orders
- Other Production Planning duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required
- Experience with Word, Excel, and Outlook software
- Strong aptitude for timeliness, organization, and ability to manage logistics
- Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
- Preferred
- Experience with production scheduling and inventory control
- Production planning experience and an understanding of an ERP/SAP system
- Experience with MRP planning data
- Exposure to Sales and Operations planning
- Two year of experience within a Production Planning environment
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kanban, or pull systems
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Relevant college degree or directly applicable experience
- Strong computer proficiency
- Strong past demonstration of timeliness, organization, and ability to manage logistics.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Strong desire to address issues and escalate them when found.
Strong ability to communicate issues tactfully with supervision while maintaining positive relationships.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic mathematics used (calculations using simple formulas)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
APICS certification is recommended
