JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and versatile Environmental Specialist to oversee and execute mussel surveys and related environmental permitting for a government contract project near Waco, Texas. This role requires comprehensive expertise in environmental science, specifically related to freshwater mussels, and familiarity with regulatory compliance and permitting processes. The successful candidate will manage all project phases from initiation to completion, ensuring high standards of data accuracy and regulatory adherence.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

• Conduct detailed mussel surveys in accordance with specified protocols.
• Acquire necessary environmental permits from USFW, TPWD, and other relevant authorities.
• Prepare and submit comprehensive reports and documentation required by the contract.
• Coordinate project activities, ensuring compliance with timelines and regulatory standards.

SCHEDULE OF WORK

• Full-time, temporary position tied to project duration.
• Fieldwork combined with office-based reporting and coordination tasks.

PLACE OF PERFORMANCE

• Waco, Texas, and surrounding areas at designated project sites.

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

• Project duration: 6 months with the possibility of extension depending on project requirements and funding.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental surveys, particularly with a focus on aquatic environments.
• Proven track record in environmental permitting and compliance.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with project stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
