Description
Summary:
Drives either a fork or clamp lift truck to load and unload trailers, pull orders, receive shipments, verify deliveries and performs other tasks assigned by Warehouse Lead, Supervisor or Manager.
Functions:
- Uses proper techniques when operating either a clamp or fork lift truck to minimize damage to finished goods, persons, equipment and structures.
- Pulls and stages orders for shipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Loads trailers while ensuring all space is utilized which will require frequent hand loading of product.
- Receives inbound shipments into the warehouse by checking deliveries to determine authorization, correctness and damage, if any along with maintaining a constant count and visual inspection of product to ensure that the correct product and number is received.
- Maintains accurate documents for all outgoing and incoming shipments.
- Ensure that product is put away correctly by ensuring that the stack heights, aisle widths and product consolidation meet SOP standards.
- Ensure that all paperwork is completed and turned into the warehouse office prior to daily departure.
- Repackage damaged product.
- Maintains a safe, clean and organized work area.
- Sweep and mop the warehouse to include operation of the floor sweeper.
- Removes debris along with moving and dumping trash cans.
- Perform preventive audits on the forklifts using checklist.
- Participates in Warehouse training and the training of new employees.
- Follow all GMP and sanitation guidelines along with maintaining a high level of personal hygiene.
Physical Demands:
- Work an 8 or 12 hour shift while sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping, use hands to finger, grasp with hands and arms, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and lifting throughout the entire shift. Riding or standing on a moving forklift.
- Requires the manual movement of objects or containers that may weight up to 30 pounds. Requires manual carrying objects or containers up to 20 pounds a maximum distance of 100 yards.
Working Conditions:
- Exposed to extreme heat. In-doors in a manufacturing / warehouse environment that is not air conditioned.
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles
- Wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards.
- Work an 8 or 12 hour day shift
- Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime.
Qualifications:
Education – High School Diploma or GED preferred
Experience – Must know how to drive and is certified to operate a forklift. One year in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.
Skills – Basic computer skills. Must be ability to read, write and speak English
