Qualifications: Direct experience working with students, especially those who find school challenging.Direct experience in organizing and facilitating restorative sessions.Skilled at intervening and then negotiating agreements with Administrators, Counselors, Teachers, and Parents/Guardians to use restorative vs.
punitive approaches when an incident occurs involving a student.Ability to train teachers and students to do restorative work.Able to work with highly sensitive and confidential communications and informationDirect experience with defining, developing and implementing equitable and socially just restorative practices in schools,Position Overview: Working with teachers, counselors, administrators, support staff, and parents/guardians from throughout the District, implements equitable and socially responsible restorative practices into all teaching and administration operations.Responsibilities & Performance Expectations: Defines specific restorative practices needed for each major District area: Classroom teachers, Administration, Support staff, Parents/guardian involvementDevelops strategy and plan for implementation of restorative practices throughout the District, incorporating practices that are already in place in some schools. Provides direct support to students, teachers, administrators, support staff, and parents/guardians.Arranges for and coordinates the use of outside resources, as required.Develops monitoring criteria to measure effectiveness of restorative practices being used as a basis to develop and implement enhancements.Maintains an awareness of other restorative practices efforts in other schools throughout the United States and facilitates the sharing of experiences.Performs administration tasks including: reports status monthly, and as required; defines financial requirements as part of annual budgeting process; oversees outside resources being used Coordinates all work with District Diversity Coordinator, District Equity Committee, and the Social Justice Team to ensure inclusiveness in all practices.Actively participates in school board, Leadership Council, and Diversity & Equity meetings, as needed.Other duties as assignedA competitive salary and benefits package will be offered depending on the background and education of the applicant.
