High School Counselor: Windsor School in Windsor is in search of a highly qualified, 9-12 school counselor. Knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for high school age children. We are looking for an individual that is a team player and knowledgeable about the ASCA National Model. Applicants should adhere to the ASCA mindset: Effective school counseling is a collaborative process involving school counselors, students, families, teachers, administrators, community leaders, and other stakeholders.Job Duties: Conduct one-on-one academic planning and goal setting, assisting students in creating an academic plan for their post-secondary venture. Work with students to develop executive functioning skills (i.e. time management and organization). Work within our advisory teams. Knowledge of Power School and scheduling is preferred.
Ability to support and grow positive school climate initiatives. Provide small/large group classroom guidance relating to the three realms of academic, post-secondary, and social-emotional development. Provide appropriate referrals and share community resources when requested or recommended. Collaborate with families/teachers/administrators to provide necessary student guidance.
Communicate with families regarding graduation requirements, post-secondary options, and social-emotional concerns. Adhere to ethical standards of the counseling profession, and abide by the laws, policies, and procedures that govern the school. Participate in professional associations and professional development opportunities
Job description includes:
Teaching Social Emotional Learning in a classroom and small group setting.
Familiar with and strives to follow the ASCA National Model
Familiar with the ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors for Student Success
Has very strong classroom management skills
Familiar with or willing to learn about Collaborative Problem Solving
Certified in CPI and has strong de-escalation skills
Has a growth mindset, is flexible and a team player
Power school and scheduling
Must be willing to engage in advocacy for students and their families
Provides community outreach and crisis intervention
Familiarity with Personalized Learning Plans and guidelines
Must hold VT license as a School Counselor or be eligible for license
