A lot About Your New Role
As a Leader…

The Program Coach and Coordinator (PCC) oversees the management, implementation, and delivery of Wings for Kids’ (WINGS) social-emotional learning (SEL) afterschool program in partner K-5 elementary schools. Driven by student and staff performance, the PCC manages a team of part-time staff, interns, volunteers, community partners, and stakeholders to ensure the WINGS program is high-quality, high-performing, educational, and culturally responsive.
 
Key Responsibilities:

PROGRAM PERFORMANCE
  • Maintain and cultivate the WINGS culture of learning, high expectations, focus, and fun
  • Build and grown a supportive, engaging, and educational program
  • Implement consistent delivery of WINGS daily curriculum and program components
  • Lead by example and model WINGS performance expectations and practices
  • Utilize data to inform decisions and drive program outcomes
  • Proactively address programmatic weaknesses and opportunities for growth, and improve program elements as determined by assessment reports and site-specific data trends
  • Provide creative, fun, innovative,and memorable experiences to staff and students within your WINGS program
STAFF ENGAGEMENT & GROWTH
  • Coach team of part-time staff (WINGS Leaders) to support, engage, and teach students
  • Mentor and guide WINGS Leaders in their professional growth and career development
  • Conduct performance check-ins; define goals, measure success, and provide feedback for improvement
  • Collaborate with program team members to provide ongoing training and support
  • Transparency in communication with staff, encouraging a culture of open communication feedback
  • Organize and lead all staff meetings
  • Track and evaluate the performance of all staff via Paycor system to ensure WINGS Leaders understanding of curriculum and students’ needs
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of annual and ongoing training
  • Participate in ongoing recruitment and hiring efforts as needed, including plans and opportunities for staff retention
  • Foster relationships of trust, loyalty, respect, and team comradery

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT & GROWTH
  • Coach and mentor students to foster the growth of SEL skills
  • Use student feedback as a way to keep programming relevant, relatable, fresh, and fun
  • Utilize data to make decisions about student social-emotional growth and areas of focus
  • Build relationships with school teachers and staff to evaluate student behavior outside of WINGS
  • Model methods to improve student engagement while guiding staff
  • Set the tone of the environment daily by modeling positive interactions and leading impactful program components
  • Apply best practices for student learning and growth
  • Engage with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and developmentally appropriate practices

STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIP-BUILDING
  • Foster positive relationships between WINGS and families, the school, community partners,, and outside organizations
  • Host family events multiple times throughout the year
  • Initiate meetings with the Program Assistant (if applicable) and check-ins with school faculty, partners, and families
  • Assist WINGS team members with scheduling volunteers and guests
  • Facilitate a welcoming environment for all stakeholders
  • Keep all stakeholders informed of program happenings

PERSONNEL OPERATIONS
  • Consistently and proactively communicate with HR on all staffing matters like new hires, staff updates, terminations, time clock, and performance
  • Communicate openly and regularly with the Director of Programs and WINGS Corporate Team Members
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by adhering to grants and finance policies; this includes oversight of spending and timely submissions of business-related expenses
  • Delegate and review reports of administrative tasks that may include data entry for grant reporting, scheduling, bus sign-out sheets, preparing volunteer logs, completing supply requests, and any other needs that may come up
  • Participate in ongoing check-ins and communication with administrative assistant and behavior personnel (if applicable)
  • Monitor progress of site-specific goals and organizational outcomes, including but not limited to attendance and enrollment.
  • Evaluate and monitor program logistics, including meals, supplies, staffing challenges
  • Ensure the safety of all students at all times

YOUR ABILITIES

The ideal PCC will be assertive, outgoing, and possess a positive demeanor. You must also be flexible and willing to learn in a fast-paced and varied environment. You must have a passion for kids and a strong desire to improve the lives of kids who deserve more opportunities than they have.

Concrete, demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
  • Must be flexible to handle a multitude of unexpected responsibilities that may arise
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
  • Ability to follow instructions and carefully review work for accuracy.
  • Ability to think proactively and reactively.
  • Works well with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and occasional weekends.
  • Experience with elementary education/youth development and social emotional learning is preferred.
  • Model Wings for Kids'  Words to Live By daily
  • BA or MA in a related field required or four years of related experience with Wings for Kids
  • Nonprofit/NGO experience preferred.

Terms:
The PCC role is a 46-week position that follows the school year calendar.

Salary : $37,000 - $45,000
