WFI Slitting Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Print Manager, the Slitting Supervisor is responsible for safety, housekeeping, efficient and quality production, accurate production reporting, supervision of employees, hands-on training and development for employees, and continuous improvement for his/her shift at Winpak Films Inc.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 3-5 years in extrusion, printing, converting or equivalent experience; previous supervisory experience preferred.

EDUCATION:

A degree or equivalent experience. A college degree is preferred.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills & abilities should include:

• In-depth knowledge of converting operations.
• Ability to troubleshoot and apply proper solutions when equipment is not performing as intended.
• Ability to train, supervise, and motivate in a team environment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills. This supervisor will need to communicate defects created in other departments effectively in order to develop good corrective actions after the root cause has been determined.
• Adequate computer skills to navigate in Microsoft Office.
• AVT inspection system experience is required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

15 percent office environment, 85 percent floor environment. Includes heights, temperature extremes, noise, working around equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to climb stairs.

EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED:

The Slitting Supervisor is responsible for the management of all Slitting Operators and Lead Operators on his/her shift.

DEGREE OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED:

Moderate supervision required. Specific direction related to improvement efforts and Company related goals and initiatives such as: Safety, Quality, OEE, Scrap, and Eff to name a few.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervision, training, and proper development of the Slitting Operators at WFI, including maintenance of the timecard records for the shift.
• Ensures that each shift has proper Slitting Operator coverage so that the plant can efficiently operate without disruption.
• Monitors performance of Slitting Operators to ensure that proper corrective counseling is issued as needed.
• Ensures that his/her shift is properly trained in Winpak Films Inc. procedures and work instructions per the Quality System.
• Makes certain that his/her shift is trained on and follows proper Winpak Films Inc. safety procedures so that all employees and visitors always remain safe.
• Maintains and audits proper housekeeping procedures.
• Makes certain that his/her shift performs proper quality checks so that manufactured product conforms to set specifications.
• Ensures that the shift operates so that productivity is maximized, and waste goals are met, including proper use of raw materials, and ensures that orders are running to the specified Standard Operating Condition (SOC).
• Communicates with management per procedure when disruptions occur during his/her shift.
• Make certain that proper Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) procedures are followed.
• Reports shift performance as directed by Management.
• Troubleshoots and implements corrective actions when a work center is not performing properly. Consults with the Maintenance department and the Production Manager when necessary.
• Actively supports the investigation and corrective actions for customer complaints.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
