What are the responsibilities and job description for the DOT COORDINATOR position at Wireline Services?
SUMMARY
Under minimum supervision, the Department of Transportation (DOT) Coordinator is responsible for supporting the DOT Manager with day-to-day DOT Compliance including but not limited to administration of GPS system, driver qualifications, hours of service, DOT drug & alcohol testing, DOT inspections, vehicle registrations and permits on all assigned areas and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as local DER for-DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Supervises, tracks, and maintains driver qualification files per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for DOT drivers
- Responsible for planning and execution of training courses required of DOT commercial motor vehicle drivers
- Responsible for implementation of DOT programs such as ELDs / hours of service
- Provide skill training to entry-level drivers to successfully obtain their CDL
- Perform, maintain, and report compliance with Driver Risk Evaluations
- Track, maintain, and produce inspection due reports on all district vehicles
- Audit Vehicle Maintenance files in accordance with FMCSRs
- Track, maintain and produce report on Driver / Vehicle Examinations from roadside inspections
- Track, maintain and audit driver vehicle inspection reports for all DOT vehicles and trailers in accordance with FMCSRs
- Act as a liaison with risk management on issues of motor vehicle violations and incidents, assisting with investigation of vehicle crashes and / or near misses
- Communicate with and act as resource for district operations on all DOT and other driver qualification issues
- Maintain internal processes to ensure efficient administration of DOT compliance
- Ensure DOT - Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) compliance
- Perform a minimum of 20 Driver / Vehicle Safety & Compliance Inspections per month
- Perform a minimum of four (4) site visits per quarter to the other facilities and perform random audits on the topics listed above
- Ability to travel 50% or more
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree; two (2) years of relevant work experience
- Able to enthusiastically provide engaging / hands-on safety training to field employees
- Able to deliver results and strive for continuous improvement
- Must be highly motivated, able to work independently
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge and understanding of OSHA and DOT regulations
- Previous experience in oil and gas services industry preferred
- Candidate must be local to the district.
COMPUTER
- Skilled in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Skype)
- Proficient in QHSE Management Software
- Skilled in FMCSA data basis and tracking systems
- Skilled in GPS Tracking Software Applications
