Position Overview
The Instructional Designer will provide leadership and mentoring in the implementation and integration of current and emerging research-based theories of teaching and learning. Through workshops, one-on-one consultations, videos, and self-paced methods, the Instructional Designer will promote and support the use of instructional design principles and assessment strategies to enhance the teaching and learning content based upon course content and delivery modes. In collaboration with faculty, academic leadership, and college stakeholders, the Instructional Designer will determine appropriate practices and methods to accomplish identified outcomes. The Instructional Designer will represent and support the values of the College by participating in work groups, committees or teams related to effective teaching and learning strategies.

One two-year limited term position

Assist faculty in the design and development of engaging, interactive, and instructionally sound course materials for all instructional delivery modes
Create engaging learning activities and course content that enhances retention and student success
Apply best-practices instructional design techniques and assessment strategies to enhance instructional delivery
Work closely with the curriculum director, program faculty, academic deans, and subject matter experts regarding course and program design, including curriculum development, mapping, and assessment.
Model and develop instructional tools, techniques, and strategies that enhance student learning.
Ensure the accessibility and inclusivity of all courses, materials, and LMS standards.
Integrate innovative technology into course and program development
Create, implement, and manage the design, development, and documentation of resources that support and enhance faculty instructional activities.
Review content and assessments for quality and alignment to curriculum development principles and standards during quality review cycles and prior to release.
Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional content and assessment strategies.
Participate in and facilitate meetings and team activities related to curriculum design/development
Provide instructional expertise, guidance, and support to the college community.
Partner with Professional Development and IT staff in developing resources to assist faculty in the use of various software and technologies, as warranted.
Remain at the cutting edge of technology-enhanced learning, curriculum, and assessment strategies.
Promote and support integration of accessible and affordable educational resources into curriculum development.
Assist faculty and academic deans to ensure teaching and learning aligns with program accreditation and external standards
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sitting most of the time. Walking and standing required only occasionally.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree
Two years experience teaching at the post-secondary level
Minimum of three years of instructional design experience
Proven working experience with instructional design and instructional technology
Three years experience with Blackboard or other Learning Management Systems
Experience with distance learning, accelerated instruction, and/or other alternative delivery methodologies.
Experience and knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies and techniques
Experience facilitating teams and managing projects specifically prioritizing assignments and meeting deadlines
Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment in a variety of settings and situations
Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization including students, faculty, staff and the community.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with WIDS
Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related field
