- Current licensure to practice nursing in Texas 2) BLS certification 3) ALS certification 4) PALS or ENPC certification 5) TNCC or ATCN certification 6) Moderate Sedation training
Must have current licensure upon hire.
New Hires will have 90 days to acquire the required NIHSS, Moderate Sedation, BLS, ALS, PALS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job.
Summary
Coordinates nursing care and patient/family education for Newborn, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Obstetric and Geriatric patients through the use of the nursing process; maintains positive working relationships with staff and other departments to provide optimal quality outcomes within the framework of professional nursing practice. These responsibilities are met according to hospital policy, hospital mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. The nurse must actively participate in the Unit Staff meetings. Demonstrates knowledge base and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patients served. The nurse must demonstrate familiarity with the principles of growth and development throughout the life cycle. The nurse must be able to assimilate basic knowledge and patient related data to perform a comprehensive and age appropriate assessment. The ED RN is expected to actively seek additional learning opportunities; this includes, but is not limited to on the unit experiences, hospital classes/in-services, continuing education credits, seminars, conventions, etc. The ED RN is required to be willing to educate both new hires AND nursing/EMS students. Triage training, EKG training, bariatric training, and other specialty certification(s)

OSHA TASK CATEGORY ONE: There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. Universal precautions must be observed, and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
