Description

I.          POSITION GOAL

The accounting analyst is responsible for general accounting functions including but not limited to accounts payable and receivables, general ledger, banking reconciliations, and government contract billings and reports. 

 

II.         PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES           

  1. Prepares account receivable billing and post-related journal entries
  2. Audit ledgers for accuracy and assists in the preparation of ad-hoc requests for account analysis
  3. Track and monitor In-Kind Rent and post related journal entries
  4. Calculate appropriate indirect cost allocations and post-related clearing journals
  5.  Assign grant award codes and maintain grant awards coding control log
  6. Record wire transfers between various accounts
  7. Record realized gains/losses on investments
  8. Accrue investment management fees
  9. Record amortization of prepaid expenses
  10. Record fund transfers as appropriate
  11. Maintain Travel Program ledgers and logs and perform reconciliations as necessary
  12. Maintain Special Events Program ledgers and logs and perform reconciliations as needed
  13. Process credit card receipts
  14. As assigned, review financial documents for accuracy and resolve any accounting discrepancies, inconsistencies, and errors in an accurate and timely manner
  15. Assist with indirect cost allocation reports for a funding source and government reports
  16. Assist in the preparation for and the conduct of internal and external audits
  17. Assist in the production of accurate financial records and reports.
  18. Attend all meetings and training related to the maintenance/revision of systems as needed
  19. Assist in Accounts Payable: Input and check requests processing and printing—set up new vendors/accounts as needed.
  20. May assist with bank reconciliations.
  21. May assist with maintaining the general ledger and preparing account reconciliations.
  22. Assist with the preparation of journal entries, monthly status reports, and closings
  23. Analyze accounting records
  24. Perform additional duties as assigned
  25. Follow established policies and procedures, laws, rules, and regulations

 

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Due to changing program demands, funding source expectations, and/or changes in agency policy, as assigned, all staff may be expected to perform other duties.

 

IV.        POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

 

  1. BA in Accounting (Required)
  2. CPA and/or MBA preferred

 

Experience

 

  1. Minimum two to five years in accounting; nonprofit accounting preferred. 
  2. Must demonstrate an understanding of current nonprofit fiscal best practices, including indirect cost allocation and cash match methods,
  3. Knowledge of fund accounting & fund accounting software
  4. Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook
  5. Paycom knowledge preferred

 

Skills

 

  1. Strong knowledge of Excel and Outlook
  2. Aptitude for detail and highly organized

 

V.         CONSTRAINTS

 

WISE & Healthy Aging is funded through a number of government contracts and public fundraising.  The continuance of all administrative positions depends on the organization’s ability to maintain sufficient funding to support all positions.

 

VI.        WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is housed in the corporate office of WISE & Healthy Aging in Santa Monica, California.
