Description
The Lead Project Accountant is responsible for client invoicing, collections management and project accounting and budgeting. The Lead Project Accountant will collaborate with Project Managers and clients and help mentor new Project Managers and Project Accountants. Key aspects of the role include preparing and/or reviewing monthly project and departmental reports.
Duties and Responsibilities
Team and Personnel Leadership:
- Lead and supervise direct reports towards achievement of individual, departmental, and company goals, implementing appropriate training and performance management practices as needed.
- Manage the project related accounting function and supervision of project accountants.
- Provide accounting leadership to departments and project managers.
- Provide accounting resources and reports for marketing materials.
- Lead accounting staff through daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and responsibilities.
- Determine areas for improvement and coordinate and provide necessary training.
- Ensure employee development and engagement of direct reports.
- Foster a positive environment by engaging in company and department meetings routinely, team building efforts, and community involvement.
Technical Leadership:
- Monitor and manage the accurate and timely reporting of project progress and status.
- Ensure the operations and associated procedures of billing systems are efficient and effective for billing delivery.
- Assist in developing, documenting, and implementing efficient, controlled, and sustainable financial reporting processes.
- Refine existing and implement new billing solutions to improve departmental efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop strategies for system integration of future technology.
- Lead accounting training for New Hires and Project Managers.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial and project reporting.
- Partner with peers, executives, and other internal stakeholders to facilitate certain aspects of the ERP implementation.
- Lead special projects as requested.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related course of study
- 5 years of accounting and/or professional engineering service or construction industry experience
- Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint / Unanet accounting software experience preferred but not required
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
- Strong critical thinking and reasoning ability
- Reliable team player with a strong work ethic and a “will to win” attitude
- Self-starter, driven to succeed and willing to take on new challenges
Working Conditions
The assignment will require occasional evening and weekend work and working in collaborative, fast-paced, and client-driven environment.
Physical Requirements
The assignment may occasionally require repetitive physical tasks (such as operating a computer), standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, extended periods of viewing computer screens and carrying equipment and materials up to 25 pounds.
