Job Summary/Primary Purpose: The Aquatics Assistant Manager provides supervisory and administrative support for Aquatics operations and assists the Aquatics Manager with strategy and execution of approved programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports the Aquatics Manager in scheduling, implementing and supervising Aquatics programs including leading the department’s swim lesson and/or swim team programming as assigned.
- Leads the Aquatics Department when manager is absent, exercising independent judgment as needed to oversee department programming and activities.
- Responsible for maintaining a monthly staff schedule and overseeing the supervision of lifeguards and swim instructors, supporting Aquatics Manager in staff timekeeping and record keeping.
- Responsible for ensuring all safety standards are met including certification documentation, in-service drills, and training while keeping and maintaining accurate documentation of all records to comply with all state, local, and TSA regulations.
- Assures Aquatics staff respond appropriately to emergency situations and accurately completes incident report forms, communicating to Manager on Duty and Aquatics Management as required.
- Establishes and promotes a culture in which excellent customer hospitality thrives, all guests feel welcome, and events and programming are well attended.
- Works with the Aquatics Manager to advance strategies to achieve sustained utilization and excellence in programming to accomplish sustainability and client satisfaction.
- Monitors and documents equipment maintenance and orientation for staff on all Aquatics equipment as needed. Maintains current inventory documentation.
- Assists the Aquatics Manager in recruiting and hiring; acts as the primary trainer for new Aquatics staff to ensure a motivated, knowledgeable, and stable team.
- Enforces and documents any staff performance or discipline issues as approved by the Aquatics Manager, following established Divisional and Kroc Center procedures.
- Tracks and reviews key performance indicators and statistics for the Aquatics area and proactively provides summary information and reports to leadership.
- Participates in the Manager on Duty Program.
- All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Aquatics Assistant oversees all Aquatics staff including, the Aquatics Lead, Aquatics Specialists, Lifeguards and Aquatics Attendants.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Prefer at least 1 year of experience in supervising aquatics facilities and programs.
- Prefer at least 1 year of experience in teaching a variety of aquatics programs and lessons.
- Working knowledge of general safety guidelines in aquatics environments required.
