The Salvation Army Midland Division Corps located in Mattoon, Illinois, is looking for a Mobile Feeding Unit Driver! This seasonal position that starts on 05/29/2023 and ends on 07/28/2023. This is a part-time position with starting pay at $13.00 an hour! This is a seasonal position and does not include benefits.
Position Summary:
This position is expected to perform all functions of a mobile feeding unit driver . This includes but is not limited to: transporting food and supply needs to the Corps Officer, serving of meals; and clean-up of coolers, hot boxes and and vehicle. Position is expected to comply with and meet The Salvation Army, Federal, State and Local policies and standards.
Essential Duties: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential duties.):
- Serve prepared food on site. Lift and carry coolers, hot boxes (Cambros) and supplies. Responsible for ALL clean-up associated with delivery vehicle and utensils used on the canteen.
- Comply with all safety and health regulations/codes regarding food preparation and service including maintenance of proper sanitation by wearing plastic gloves, hair nets, and aprons.
- Ensure tables, vehicles and equipment are sanitary before and after meals. Keep canteen drawers and cabinets clean and organized at all times. Keep and maintain a daily temperature log of food being served within compliance of the Coles County Health Dept.
- Have working cell phone with minutes and texting capability in order to stay in contact with cook and office during route.
- Report any damage or theft of canteen or supply items to supervisor.
- Pick up food items in a TSA-provided vehicle, if needed
- Maintain client confidentiality, proper client staff boundaries and comply with Safe From Harm guidelines.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to such as, resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients; respect of others’ property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Able to comply with job description. Medically qualified to work in food service area. Appropriate drivers’ licenses and pass TSA MVR check is required. Must be a team player, a self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with MINIMUM supervision. Must think independently and demonstrate sound judgment. Must be supportive of The Salvation Army’s mission and policies
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
Must be capable of performing the above essential duties. Capable of frequently lifting 25 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Will occasionally move 50 or more pounds using dolly/cart/truck. Most work will be outdoors which will be hot in the summer.
