As part of this mission, WNCSource operates multiple child care centers providing services to Early Head Start, Head Start, and NC Pre-K (preschool) children across four counties in beautiful western North Carolina: Henderson, Polk, Rutherford, and Transylvania. What are the responsibilities of this position?

This position provides on-site coaching and mentoring to guide Trainees & Apprentices through their training process to be successfully hired as full time teachers in our classrooms.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop goals and plan of action through an Individual Professional Development Plan for each Trainee & Apprentice to reach the requirements needed to be eligible for a full time teaching position.

• Encourage, support, motivate, and work interactively with Trainees & Apprentices and their supervisors.

• Monitor Trainees’ & Apprentices’ successful completion of the training program.

• Conduct classroom observations to individualize coaching and meet the individualized needs of the Trainees & Apprentices.

• Provide constructive feedback and support to teaching staff for learning and growth.

Head Start prepares young children to succeed in school and in life beyond school. We deliver services to children and families in areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way.

Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Services or a related field. Degree(s) must be from an accredited college recognized by the NC Department of Child Development and Early Education.

Two - five years of experience in working with young children in group settings.

Early Head Start/Head Start/NC Pre-K experience. Experience working with new early

childhood teachers. Experience and/or knowledge of Practice Based Coaching is preferred.
