Summary:
The laboratory technician position encompasses a wide variety of both bench level testing responsibilities and non-testing, administrative responsibilities as outlined below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include the following:
- Understands regulatory standards and requirements and performs all activities within their confines.
- Conduct assignments as assigned by QC/Micro Laboratory Management in a compliant and efficient manner. Collect and test daily water samples, collect environmental monitoring samples, collect swab or other samples as required.
- Accurately documents activities, rigorously adhering to cGMP/GLP and all company standards.
- Strictly adheres to all approved methodologies without deviation.
- Prepares various QC or Micro solutions, reagent and sample solutions using proper documentation practices.
- Accurately clean and dry soiled laboratory glassware in a diligent, expeditious manner.
- Cleaning of Micro lab hoods, surfaces, incubators, refrigerators according to procedures as required.
- Destroy samples (routine and/or on a scheduled basis) upon testing completion.
- Autoclaving hard goods and liquid media
- Provides assistance with waste management activities in QC and micro.
- Assist in receiving incoming samples to be tested by the Micro Laboratory.
- Deliver QC/Micro documentation to the Batch Release department.
- Responsible for maintaining the personal work area appearance and any other areas as defined by Laboratory Management.
- Handle samples and documentation when samples are sent out for testing.
- Perform other tasks as requested by supervision.
Supervision:
- Works under direct supervision and generally performs functions that do not require exercising independent judgment.
- May work with a mentor (trainer) as they learn the techniques and procedures of the position.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 year degree plus a minimum of five years of relevant laboratory experience
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
- Must be familiar with general QC operations and have general knowledge related to handling of materials in the laboratory.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiar with cGMP and GLP requirements.
- Ability to multitask is critical to the performance of this position.
