Wofford College, established in 1854, is a four-year, residential liberal arts college located in
Spartanburg, South Carolina. It offers 27 major fields of study to a student body of 1,875

Wofford College invites applications for Assistant Registrar. This position is a two-year backfill with the
potential to become permanent member of the team. The initial two-year position will be part of the
support team for the Office of the Registrar during the Workday implementation. The position will be
responsible for assisting with current office functions utilizing Banner. To that end, the Assistant
Registrar interprets and enforces college policies and procedures when appropriate; and administers
functions such as course management, class registration, grading, academic record maintenance and
classroom assignments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions:

  • Assists with general functions of the Office of the Registrar such as responding to public
inquiries; data entry and processing; web, electronic, and paper information maintenance and
correspondence; academic calendar events and deadlines; coordinating office procedures and
documentation; certain commencement events; and process evaluation and improvement.
  • Works with students, faculty, staff and others in a consistent, fair, equitable, accessible and
friendly manner.
  • Integrity, responsiveness, reliability, careful attention to detail and knowledge of Wofford’s
academic policies (and of the institution as a whole).
  • Supports office functions within the student database Banner, including maintaining data
integrity, interoffice training, communications and testing.
  • Technologically skilled in processing, managing and maintaining data.
  • Assists in building and managing the class schedule each term, the online course registration for
students, grading processes, as well as updating student records (AP/IB credit, grade changes,
incompletes, medical withdrawals, etc.).
  • Assists in production of academic catalog utilizing CourseLeaf software.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the Registrar’s website and works with the Office of Marketing and
Communications regarding edits/updates.
  • Acts as the secretary to the curriculum committee.
  • Complies with and has a strong understanding of FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Act), academic process and data security best practices.
  • Assists in all commencement activities as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The preferred candidate will have experience learning, implementing and training others in new
business processes and technologies. They will have experience or familiarity with higher
education registrar office policies and procedures.
  • Bachelor’s degree and three years of progressively responsible job-related experience or an
equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possess the highest degree of integrity and discretion due to the sensitive, often-confidential
nature of students’ education records and faculty and staff interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to
effectively balance multiple tasks, maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent oral, written and customer service skills, and ability to work pleasantly and
professionally with diverse and varied constituencies – students, co-workers, faculty and parents.
  • Ability to work with functional and technical staff to manage, test and improve system
processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in technology required for internal/external office support (e.g.,
Microsoft Office suite) and demonstrated willingness and ability to learn or master new
software, as appropriate.
