The Community Doula Navigator position at Woman’s Hospital will support the program activities of the Well-Mama Program, a multi-site research project conducted by Northwestern University, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, John H.
Stroger Cook County Hospital, and Woman’s Hospital, Baton Rouge. Community Doula Navigators (CDNs) will serve the combined roles of doulas, community health workers, and patient navigators to address the top drivers of maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity for pregnant and postpartum Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) women.
Community Doula Navigators will provide support to :
Duties will center around providing support for patients in-person and telehealth check-ins on priority areas such as mental health, cardiovascular symptoms, safety, opioid / substance abuse, and social support in addition to virtual support groups and labor support.
Please note the CDN will not provide clinical care in this setting.
Management of or more live births is required and Doula certification or enrollment in Doula training is highly preferred.
