The Women and Family Life Center (W&FLC) in beautiful Guilford, CT, has a rare and exciting opportunity for a Referral Navigator to join our team starting the first week of August 2024. Our Referral Navigators report to the Program Manager, provide case management and work directly with participants to connect them with community resources spanning multiple domains. Salary range: $40,000-$50,000 DOE/DOQ.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Conduct participant intakes via phone, video, and in-person to assess needs, which may span multiple domains (basic needs, crisis services, mental health, financial and legal services)
2. Provide individualized referrals to W&FLC programs and regional and statewide resources.
3. Advocate on behalf of participants, including assisting participants with making phone calls, filling out applications, contacting providers to collaborate on cases with other providers (per signed release form).
4. Provide crisis intervention and crisis training to other W&FLC staff & program facilitators as needed.
5. Work as a team member with all other staff to fulfill the Center’s mission.
6. Communicate and coordinate with other staff.
7. Answer inquiries and assist potential participants in all programs.
8. Strategize with other staff to ensure that all programs, including our Guided Assistance Program, work together to assist participants best.
9. Stay abreast of community needs and complete continuing education and training regularly.
10. Design and lead educational programming and awareness prevention events.
11. Attend as a representative of W&FLC at community events and programs.
12. Maintain complete and accurate reporting of services provided and update referral resources in the database.
13. Additional related tasks as requested.
Qualifications:
1. A bachelor's degree is required, and a master's degree is preferred, with a degree in social work or human service discipline. A minimum of two years of clinical or nonclinical case management experience is preferred.
2. Effective, strong communication skills and the ability to establish compassionate, nonjudgmental connections with participants are crucial for this role.
3. Strong organizational skills and experience working in an office environment are needed.
4. Experience or training with crisis intervention, domestic/sexual violence, and housing concerns is preferred.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel & Publisher) and a demonstrated high comfort level with working in or learning a new client-relations management (CRM) database are needed.
6. Proactive, with an aptitude for solving problems with creativity and resourcefulness; able to stay calm under deadlines is a must.
7. Passion for working on behalf of women and all families in need.

Working Conditions
1. Primary work takes place in an office environment, though some activities take place in non-standard workplaces.
2. Regular evenings and weekends are required to participate in meetings and attend events.
