Position: Certification Associate
Reports to: Certification Manager
Location: Hybrid
The Women’s Business Council – Southwest (WBCS) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Certification Associate. As a Certification Associate, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently inputting a variety of data into our systems to process certification applications and organization of supporting documents for women-owned businesses. Attention to detail, speed, and ability to maintain confidentiality are essential for this role. The ideal candidate is reliable, proactive, and has exceptional data entry and customer service skills. This is a crucial position within our organization, as the accuracy and timeliness of processing applications directly impacts our operations.
Responsibilities:
Participate in all aspects of the certification program with focus on processing certification and recertification applications, conducting site visits, responding to information requests, and supporting the certification department.
- Implement and maintain a thorough knowledge and comprehension of WBENC certification standards and procedures in all aspects of job responsibilities.
- Oversees receipt of applications from Women Business Enterprises; this includes all data entry and ensuring application data is successfully transferred to our WBCS database.
- Evaluates applicant files and ensures they are processed in accordance with WBENC standards and procedures, which will include a high level of legal and financial document review (no experience is required, however a strong ethical standard and a comfort with legal and financial documents is preferred).
- Tracks additional incoming documentation and logs files as complete and pending once they are complete in WBCS database and WBENCLink.
- Attend and assist at monthly Certification Review Committee meetings; assist in the preparation and presentation of staff review summaries and record decisions on applicants’ eligibility.
- Conduct site visits as necessary throughout the region as back-up to Certification Review Committee members.
- Respond to questions about the certification process from calls and emails regarding new applications, re-certifications, and site visits.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of certification files according to WBENC and WBCS standards, including retention and destruction guidelines.
- Creates and analyzes reports as requested by management.
Requirements:
- High school degree or equivalent; college degree preferred.
- 2 years’ experience in a position(s) with comparable responsibilities.
- Intermediate computer proficiency in a variety of standard office programs.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- MUST be detail oriented.
- Skill set must include high level proficiency in data entry; both quality and quantity are critical to work flow.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Experience working in a non-profit professional service/membership-driven organization, is preferred.
Other Requirements of Position:
- Extended periods of time spent at computer/telephone
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds in transporting materials to events and trade fair setups
- Position may require travel within the region

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
