Resident Advocate
The Women’s Center / Harbor House is looking for a dynamic individual to fill an entry level position at our Domestic Violence Shelter. This position offers lots of room for growth and opportunity to develop skills as an advocate while providing direct services to survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
We do our very best to operate from a client centered, trauma informed perspective. Not quite sure what that means? That’s ok….we’ll train you!
Description: A day in the life of a Resident Advocate is rarely boring; there’s always something happening and something to do! You’ll be working with a variety of people and a wide range of backgrounds. Some common activities on any shift will include (but are not limited to!): answering the crisis line, meeting with residents, safety planning, cleaning house, supportive listening and making referrals to outside agencies. We also encourage our Advocates to be creative in developing activities with shelter residents.
