Job Title: LGBTQ Health Coordinator
Reports To: Medical Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary: The LGBTQ Health Coordinator will primarily act as healthcare navigator and advocate for WHCWV’s LGBTQ patients. This role collaborates across the organization to address LGBTQ patient needs, coordinate relevant staff training, maintain vetted referral resources, and promote the program.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Resolve gender-affirming hormone therapy insurance denials on patients’ behalf.
- Complete hormone medication prior authorizations for trans and gender-diverse patients
- Complete patient referrals for various gender-affirming care including endocrinology, neurology, psychiatry, counseling, voice therapy, surgery, primary care, and additional specialists.
- Respond to patient inquiries and interest in connecting to WHC clinical services and link patients with appropriate providers and support organizations within the community.
- Collaborate with clinical team to address patient concerns, stay updated on WHC services and navigation process, and accurately communicate WHC services offered to the community.
- Build out, monitor, and revise vetted resource and referral list based on LGBTQ community and patient priorities of immediate need; develop and maintain relationships with relevant organizations
- Participate in relevant educational opportunities and stay up to date on trends regarding LGBTQ health; facilitate quarterly WHC staff training opportunities related to LGBTQ health.
- Support community engagement and efforts as appropriate, e.g. coordinating annual attendance at Pride festivals, consulting with development team on program’s fundraising initiatives, consulting with communications team on program marketing materials, etc.
- Track and analyze data on patient navigation requests; collaborate with the leadership team to identify unmet needs, gaps in care, and strategic planning and development.

Requirements/Qualifications

- Knowledge of LGBTQ health care issues
- Valid WV driver’s license, use of an automobile, and current automobile insurance
- Previous experience with healthcare navigation, electronic health records, medical terminology a plus
