The Wood Saskatoon office currently numbers over 120 engineers, designers, and support personnel.
Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer-In-Training. Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, this position is located in our Saskatoon, SK office. This role has responsibilities for assisting with the mechanical design on projects in the mining industry. - Provide assistance with mechanical engineering design and technical support for the construction of industrial facilities and services related to mining and mineral processing; including materials handling systems, fluid transfer systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, air handling and other related industrial process equipment
- Assist with the review of project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation, including verifying technical accuracy
- Learn and understand process flows as well as engineering protocols
- Prepare simple plans and reports with related engineering calculations
- Develop equipment specifications and datasheet under supervision
- Demonstrating effective organizational skills, handling multiple tasks both independently and in a team environment
- Assist more experienced technical personnel with specific aspects of more complex tasks
- Develop and establish communication with internal Wood personnel to ensure that work flows smoothly as well as provide support to various team members
Skills / Qualifications
- Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 0-2 years of relevant design experience
- Eligibility for registration as an Engineer-In-Training with APEGS
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Experience with potash or heavy industrial projects is considered an asset
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
