Wood is currently seeking a Project Manager for our mining consulting and EPCM projects in our Trail, B.C.

Our Trail office currently numbers over 50 engineers, designers and support personnel. Trail, located in Southeastern British Columbia near the cities of Rossland, Nelson, and Castlegar, is an affordable family-oriented community of approximately 10,000 people. The area offers excellent education and health care facilities, as well as access to world-class skiing at Red Mountain, hiking, boating, fishing, hunting, golf and all outdoor activities available in the Kootenays. The Wood Trail office is currently offering a hybrid working environment, with your work week split between attending the Wood Office and working from home. We also offer flexible work hours in order to enjoy the bounties this area has to offer. This situation is subject to change and is dependent on project requirements, office plans, and Wood policy changes.
Wood’s Trail engineering team and company-wide environmental specialists are focused on Carbon Management & reduction initiatives and are providing solutions to Energy services within the region to reduce emissions and protect our environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the management and coordination of project staff and sub-contractors to ensure safe, cost effective, efficient, and timely completion of projects to meet and/or exceed client expectations
- Act as a technical professional resource for the successful competition of multiple major challenging projects.
- Manage all phases of an EPC/M project, including project planning/execution, engineering, construction, through to pre-commissioning.
- Manage multiple brown-field projects concurrently, for one or multiple clients.
- Develop and maintain communication channels with clients, stake holders, and internal personnel to ensure work flows smoothly as well as provide first class engineering services.
- Participate in Business Development initiatives and regularly promote Wood for future work.
- Mentor and train junior internal personnel to groom individuals as well as complete project teams to become more prepared to take on additional roles and responsibilities.
- Oversee the development of project budgets, schedules, and reports.
- Gather up-to-date information first-hand at sites, meeting with clients, and constantly monitor work performances.
Skills / Qualifications
- Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering from a recognized university
- 10 years’ experience in an EPC / EPCM environment, construction and/or operations supporting the mining industry, including at least 5 years increasing responsibility as a project manager.
- Extensive experience in mining is highly desired; will consider Petro-chemical, heavy Civil and O&G project experience.
- Experience in managing multiple small to medium brownfield projects simultaneously is required (up to $15 million capital cost)
- Completion of a diploma or degree in a certified project management program is considered an asset.
- Willingness to relocate to Trail, BC if not already located in the area
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
