Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Piping Designer. Reporting to the Mechanical Discipline Lead, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. This role has overall responsibility for providing support on our major projects within Forest Industries. Key Responsibilities
- Develop working drawings using company and industry standards and codes
- Providing design and technical support for the layout, design, supporting and specification of piping and components for industrial plants and related infrastructure
- Providing conceptual front end design to full detailed design and material take-offs for industrial and mining plants
- Designing and drafting of piping, pipe supports and auxiliary components in 2D and 3D drawing environments
- Preparing and verifying designs on site including creation of tie-in drawings
- Reviewing and checking project documents for scope, presentation and technical accuracy
- Establishing good working relationships and communication with area leads, project managers, department leads, clients and other team members to coordinate, ensuring the compatibility of design
- Travelling to site locations for design and/or construction/commissioning
Skills / Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Design technology
- 10 years experience as a piping designer, preferably with experience in one or more of the following: Forest Industries, pulp and paper, thermal power natural gas, chemical or water treatment plants
- Additional design experience with mechanical equipment layout will be considered an asset
- Self-motivated with good leadership and interpersonal skills
- Proven experience and proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and E3D/PDMS design/drafting
- Site experience
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
