Purpose:
How does the position contribute to the success of the operation, division and company? This position is responsible for leading the implementation of more effective planning/scheduling techniques and strategies. They ensure accurate inputs and ongoing management of MRP and CRP data. They develop schedules and plans which drive manufacturing optimization and the ability to meet on time delivery of customer orders. The Master Production Scheduler/Demand Planner will be the primary point of contact for sister division supply chain initiatives which directly involve or impact the Leesburg Millwork Plant. Overall, the objective of this position is to actively lead continuous improvement efforts aimed at delivering significant improvement in service and manufacturing efficiency while balancing the goals and strategies of the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Safety is the upmost priority. Maintains a healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing company standards, policies, and procedures as well as those required by state and federal law.
• Propagate relationships across scheduling, sales, operations, and sister supply chains so that effective knowledge sharing improves the vertical integration capabilities of Woodgrain as a whole.
• Create systems, processes, and methods so that CRP and MRP functionality is utilized and improved with the intention of Millwork better anticipating demand requirements. Craft methods that will optimize scheduling and demand planning processes.
• Lead the implementation of more effective scheduling techniques which support strategic business growth initiatives.
• Coordinate with IT to identify and implement system and process improvements within SAP PP.
• Proactively review material supply and demand to determine actions appropriate to minimize master schedule, MRP, and CRP exception messages and changes.
• Produce short and long term stocking plans to improve service, increase turns, reduce carrying costs, and minimize risk of obsolescence.
• Analyze demand and make recommendations which address production capacity constraints or surpluses. • Develop demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of the demand planning function.
• Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and present forecast results for evaluation.
• Disseminate changes or potential changes in strategies to all necessary stakeholders.
• Ensure proper execution of production strategies (MTO, MTS, MTSFG, FTO, etc)
• Oversee, develop, and mentor production schedulers.
• Responsible for the conversion of planned orders and release of rough cut schedules to production schedulers
• Collaborate with production, sales, procurement, transportation, warehousing, schedulers, and sister companies to develop recovery plans when customer requirements cannot be achieved.
• Assist with resolving issues stemming from manufacturing delays and/or material constraints. Promptly communicate with affected departments and customers.
• Provides management with detailed causes for missed KPIs.
• Develop processes to maintain valid MRP/CRP parameters and drive values back in to the ERP system.
• Monitor ERP profiles and values to ensure data integrity is maintained.
• Effectively document and maintain standard operating procedures.
Travel minimal (30% or less)
Education:
BA in supply chain, operations management, industrial engineering, or equivalent direct experience. Masters degree a plus
5 years personnel management
APICS Certification preferred
Ability to facilitate decisions through scenario modeling
Must have strong problem solving and decision making skills with the judgment to identify and escalate issues of high importance or risk to management
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and accomplish assignments through the work of others
Self-directed. Must work well with diverse personalities and be able to gain respect and influence among coworkers
Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written). Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies Equipment/Software:
Well-developed understanding of ERP/MRP/CRP and forecasting concepts with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret system data.
Experience developing and maintaining PP parameters within SAP
Working knowledge of MS office with a strong proficiency in Exce
