Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and creative Music Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching music to students in pre-k through eighth grade, while fostering their musical talents, and encouraging a lifelong appreciation for music.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement a comprehensive music curriculum for students in Pre-K2 through 8th grade.
- Plan and conduct developmentally appropriate music lessons that include singing, instrument playing, music theory, and music appreciation.
- Organize and direct school concerts, performances, and other musical events.
- Foster a positive and engaging classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate music into the whole school curriculum.
- Assess and monitor students' progress
- Maintain and care for musical instruments and equipment.
- Incorporate technology into the music curriculum at appropriate age levels
- Participate in professional development opportunities
- Opportunity to partner with the drama department
- Provide music lessons after school or help coordinate a team to provide said lessons
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field
- Experience teaching music to pre-K and elementary students
- Proficiency in playing multiple musical instruments.
- Strong knowledge of music theory and music history.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize and direct school musical events.
- Passion for teaching and a commitment to student success.
