This position is responsible for developing and managing the supplier base for Woodland Foods food products, primarily but not limited to food ingredients --negotiating and placing purchase orders that provide competitive pricing and terms, maintaining quality specification compliance, and providing delivery schedules to meet stock targets on purchased items.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Purchase diverse items from suppliers to support demand and target stock levels, focusing on total cost ownership and inventory level targets.
- Provide long-term and short-term cost savings strategies.
- Evaluate and manage existing supplier base: develop a strategy of supply based on risk, price, quality, variety of offerings, service, support, availability, reliability, and reputation.
- Identify and reduce risk in the supply chain.
- Develop new supply sources and visit supplier facilities to qualify them as new sources.
- Arrange and ensure delivery of purchased items to support customer service levels.
- Maintain a supply plan that provides adequate stock and fresh products for sale.

Qualifications/Requirements
- 3 years of purchasing/procurement experience within any industry
- College degree and/or equivalent experience
- Experience with ERP systems a plus
- Functional with Excel
- Food Industry and/or importing experience preferred
- Exceptional International buying and logistics knowledge and skills
- Proficiency in a second language is a plus
- CPM, APICS, or other certifications a plus
Skills/Abilities
- Strong negotiating, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Ability to analyze previous ordering and inventory histories to establish forecasting trends
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of management
- Proficiency with current software packages such as Microsoft Office
- Strong team player
