In addition to hands-on work with plants, you will also be responsible for planning and assisting in designing landscapes and gardens. This can involve creating planting plans, selecting suitable species of plants, and designing irrigation systems. You may also be responsible for managing budgets, hiring and training staff, and ensuring that all work is carried out safely and in compliance with relevant regulations.
To be successful in this role, you will need a strong knowledge of plant biology, soil science, and pest management. You should also be able to work well independently or as part of a team, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A degree in horticulture or a related field is typically required, as well as several years of experience working with plants in a professional setting.
